Yes, it can keep track of multiple bookmarks. It just sets a little virtual bookmark on each book.

Awesome review, no fluff and to the point! Many thanks.

One thing I can’t work out is if this reader can keep track of where you are in multiple books? ie If you have four books on the go and are switching between them, will it keep your place/page for each one or only for the last one you were reading?

There is no built-in RSS reader yet. You can use Calibre to convert the RSS and load them as documents.

Can the PRS 600 read internet feeds, like RSS?

I am looking for a decent reader where i can also read internet feeds.

awesome thank you. you are also a great reviewer. short and consise reviews are the best. but your is better. :)

The reader supports ePUB and PDF with or without DRM. They support DRM so that you can take out library books. We have a full review on mobiletechreview web site that covers this and many other features. Please feel free to check it out

And another question. Which filetypes do the readers support?

  9. MrKarlalfred88 21. Jan, 2010 at 2:12 am #

Just an amazing review. You get a tenner!!! :)

But one important question. How are the DRM-restrictions on this one? Kindle is very restrictive. I hope this one isn’t. When I buy a book I want to be able to read it on my computer and whenever I like… I want to be able to transfer the books to my other devices. Thank you for an amazing review!! ;)

Thank you for a clear and concise review, spoken in a pleasant voice!. I will be receiving the Sony 600 via UPS tomorrow. This week has been the longest wait of my life!! I’ve been using a Fictionwise eBookwise reader for about a year, which is like a toy next to the 600. Regardless of some of the 600 pitfalls (namely low contrast & glare), it will most likely be a VAST improvement over the eBookwise. I have a feeling that I’ll be pleased. :o ) This review definitely helped my decision.

You can get the PRS 900 which is the Sony Daily Edition that has 3G wireless internet. SO you can browse the sony store and download directly from the site. You can also subscribe to newspapers that will get downloaded directly into the reader everyday.

I was leaning towards the 900 but I’m in Canada, and the network hasnt really been available yet. So I got the 600. Kinda of too impatient to wait. haha

  13. SocaTrain 21. Jan, 2010 at 4:42 am #

so you have to download the books on your computer, then transfer them to the device or is there like a wireless feature where you ca download directly to the reader? im just curious because im thinking about getting one soo

Btw, you use a USB cable that connects the device to your computer, and you can use the Sony ebook library (kinda like itunes) or other programs to organize and transfer books.

I’ve been using the Calibre program to do all that, and it has been a Godsend. =)

I actually bought this last Saturday.

I couldnt wait for the 900 to come out, and Best Buy had a really awesome open box deal, 315 CDN and a free leather cover to boot!

So far I adore this thing, and I’ve been using Calibre to download the newspaper on it. =) I’ve already finished a couple of books on it since saturday!

  16. SocaTrain 21. Jan, 2010 at 5:54 am #

how exactly do you put new books on this?

  17. unklekranky 21. Jan, 2010 at 6:02 am #

I got more information from this video than I did from anything Sony has. Thank you!

i found this anti-glare film by 3M: should be excellent and works for touch screen devices! Just google “3M anti-reflective film” and you should find it. You can order it online too

they actually have got a color e-paper netbook coming out soon, though I can’t remember who ‘they’ are at the moment, a google search should come up with something for you.

  20. theNeverangel 21. Jan, 2010 at 7:17 am #

@eltits the colours appear in grey scale instead, same goes for pictures

  21. harrymanbach 21. Jan, 2010 at 7:47 am #

@mrdiaz987 they haven’t been able to develop a color e-paper display yet but i’m sure it’s a few years down the road

  22. eltits 21. Jan, 2010 at 8:28 am #

what would happen, if I insert a .pdf which includes colors?

  23. aaronseamanphoto 21. Jan, 2010 at 8:57 am #

Thank you Lisa. This is an extremely clear review and it makes the functions of the PRs 600 so much easier to figure out. Many thanks:)

@insomnialife2 OLED, just like LCD, emits light, so it strains the eye which is very apparent after few hours of reading. e-ink (or e-paper) doesn’t emit light (at least not mandatory), and power is only needed to change the image of the e-paper (not to maintain it), so battery life is longer.

You have a gift of writing good, attention grabbing content. I myself am a blogger and want to improve this slowly too.
