Windows 8 has been proposed by Microsoft as the “unified environment” by tying all Microsoft devices together into a single OS. This will radically change the way smartphones interact with other devices, since they are all the same operating system.

So the question is this: should I wait for that first Windows 8 smartphone? Or, should I get another smartphone (not necessarily a Windows Phone 7 device) and put off the mobile Windows 8 platform until it is tried-and-true?  Read more... (177 words, 1 image, estimated 42 secs reading time)

What programming language should I learn to develop native apps for Windows 8 and Windows 7.5 Mobile Phones?

Question by ValLin 88: What programming language should I learn to develop native apps for Windows 8 and Windows 7.5 Mobile Phones?
I’m a Web Developer with experience developing websites and applications that run on Windows operating systems. I’m in the process of learning how to develop mobile websites and applications (on my own). I know that iPhone and Android are top of the market, but I do see promise in developing native apps for Windows Phone and Desktop using the upcoming “metro style”. I’ve read you can use Javascript and HTML 5 to develop metro style apps but I want to know if I should also learn how to develop these apps using XAML with C# or VB.NET?
